Asst. SPED Supervisor,
The Behavior Services Department provides behavior support to Special Education students who require additional support specifically in the areas of social skills training as well as applied behavioral analysis. Data is collected and progress monitored to assure supports are effective and meaningful. Steps to Request Behavior Support
An Educator should identify 1-3 target behaviors of concern. Collect baseline data on frequency/duration/intensity of identified behaviors for one-two weeks (depending on behavior) in order to provide appropriate information to Specialist as to why a consult in being requested. Include teaching strategies being utilized.
Request Consult and/or Behavior Modification plans with baseline data attached by submitting a Behavior Support Form to Peggy Darnell via email.
Functional Behavioral Assessment/ Behavior Improvement Plans are requested during a student’s Individual Education Plan Meeting with the permissions of those on the IEP team. The PBS and/or Sped Supervisor MUST be included in the IEP meeting when a FBA/BIP is being requested.
